We are thrilled to announce our new single, Poor Boy, has landed on all streaming sites!
The song was born the old-fashioned way, in the practice room. “Charlie kicked things off with that irresistible opening riff,” the band recalls. “Before we knew it, the groove locked, the energy snowballed, and the song pretty much wrote itself in the space of one jam.” From guitar, bass, and drums to a full day of shakers and tambourines in the studio, ‘Poor Boy’ captures the raw energy and spontaneity that make Goldfish Don’t Bounce so exciting live.
Lyrically, Poor Boy explores the universal clash between wealth and authenticity. It tells the story of someone from Halliwell observing the shiny world of money, cars, and status, and choosing to reject it. Instead of hiding behind possessions or appearances, the “poor boy” embraces simplicity and turns it into power. The track is a defiant, funky reminder that honesty, grit, and raw energy can always outshine cash or fancy clothes.
Massive shout out to the genius that is Mr. Neil Treppas for producing this track.
